Shipping of Restricted Items

Ultimately, it is your duty to understand all laws in effect for your location.  Chip McCormick will comply with all current regulations regarding the prevention of the sale and shipment of magazines to places where they are prohibited by law.

Chip McCormick Custom applies the following rules to the shipment of magazines and other products.  You will not be able to check out with products restricted to your shipping address.

  • California:  No pistol or rifle magazines greater than 10 rounds.  [Cal. Penal Code § 16350]
    • The language of CA AB-1263 indicates that otherwise legal to purchase and possess magazines now fall within the scope of the requirements detailed here.
    • All California sales of certain firearm accessories (magazines) must include:
      • Displaying the California Manufacturing Notice to the buyer.
      • Recording the buyer’s acknowledgment of the Manufacturing Notice.
      • Collecting proof of age (18 or older) from a government-issued photo ID that includes an address matching the shipping address.
    • Merchants, such as Chip McCormick Custom, must also:
      • Ensure all packages are conspicuously labeled with the words "Signature and proof of identification of person aged 18 years or older required for delivery."
      • Ensure the shipping address matches the purchaser’s identification.
      • Require the purchaser, upon delivery, to present proof of identification to the courier and sign for the delivery.
    • We can only ship orders containing certain firearm accessories (magazines) to the address listed on your provided validation document (e.g., California Driver's License). Ensure that the shipping address selected at checkout matches your ID.  By law, your shipping address must match the address listed on your verified ID. We cannot ship regulated items to a different address (e.g., a workplace or secondary residence). If it does not match, we will not be able to ship your order, and it will be canceled. You will not be billed if your order is not shipped.
    • California law requires all regulated parts to be delivered with "Adult Signature Required" confirmation.
      • Carrier Age Standards: While the law allows 18-year-olds to purchase these parts, major shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS) define an "Adult Signature" as a person 21 years of age or older.
      • Delivery: Someone aged 21+ must be present at the delivery address to show ID and sign for the package. If no one 21+ is available, the carrier will not leave the package. Your package will be returned, and your order will be canceled.  You will be refunded for your order, less shipping costs (and applicable taxes on shipping costs).
      • Surcharges: An additional surcharge may be applied to all orders requiring an "Adult Signature".
    • You will be required to complete additional validation for your orders after your order has been submitted. We utilize a US-based service provider to collect and process the required validation documents. All documents are stored and processed in a US-based data center in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
